A QUICK UPDATE & OOTD

Hey there everyone! So a pretty boring post today, basicly explaining why I haven't been able to post as much recently. In the last few weeks I've got a new job in the insurance indistry! Which is really exciting and new, but I'm so sad to be leaving my newlook family. I'm still going to be writing fashion related posts. But just for the next week or so whilst I get used to my new schedule I probably won't be writing as much. But I am thinking of starting a YouTube channel! What do you think?

OFF TO THE RACES

With social events such as Ascot Races approaching fast, it’s time to think outfit choices. To ensure you stand out from the crowd with the perfect race day outfit, look to Zoe Hardman with her pretty pastel midi cut to the knee with crisp white to contrast for a look that both conservative and stylish. With strict rules about length, a pencil fit in the style of Laura Haddock is ideal - think florals for a timeless high summer feel. Daring to be different, there’s a lot to be said for Lupita N’Yongo’s monochrome look – tipped for the top with a must-have fedora.

Fearne Cotton

Known for her often quirky and eclectic style, it’s always nice to catch Fearne Cotton on a day off so we can catch a glimpse at her take on dressed down casuals. Ideal for summer, Fearne finds the perfect balance between feminine and masculine, combining pastel elements with tough, worn denim. Creating the perfect juxtaposition, delicate embellishment along the neckline in blush tones goes up against the vintage inspired rips that adorn her boyfriend jeans. To complete the casual free, candy pop trainers bring a relaxed sports touch that’s ideal for daytime. For an evening/dress up feel, simply switch to metallic ankle strap heels to elevate.

NEON BOHO

Bringing a luxe edge to classic bohemian styling, neon hues and acid brights take centre stage on a backdrop of monochrome safari prints and aztec elements. Boxy shapes and embellished tailoring add a formal touch to dressed down jumpsuits and casual maxi lengths. Flashes of vivid yellow and cobalt create a strong impression across delicate accessories and beaded footwear.

Holly | RESTYLE

|Hair type: Caucasian  |Hair condition: Dry  |Hair Texture: Thick
Holly had been colouring her hair repeatedly over time and that had led to dry damaged hair, she wanted a change and something to match her quirky spirit, Holly is one of my closest friends so when she came into the salon and asked for a change I knew exactly what to do. I created a shaggy cut with a soft arch fringe that would draw the eye to her beautiful and unique green/grey eyes. The shaggy and soft style contrast each other beautifully and it was so nice to finally be able to create this style on someone. I then feathered it into the sides to create a really on trend summer style.

The result left Holly’s hair feeling shiny and healthy. For this haircut I got my inspiration from the shaggy hairstyles of the 1960’s, but I feel like I brought it into S/S 2014 with the soft modern fringe.

LIME

Whilst strawberries and cream are a summer favourite, when it comes to new season trends it’s all getting a bit zesty with citrus brights giving our style all the tang it needs. Sharp and undeniably chic, lime has won us over with its electric, high impact colour and summer-ready neon tint. Look to Jennifer Lopez for night out inspiration, taking the shade and embracing it all over with a wrap bodycon dress, accented with shocking pink accessories. For a more casual look in the daylight hours, Elle Fanning nails the shade by using it to lift classic dark wash denim and a white shirt.

Mint Kardash-attack | GET THE LOOK

It’s no secret that pastels are sticking around for the season, much to my delight. Effortlessly feminine and versatile for any occasion, it’s no surprise that the trend has been picked up by the colour block Queen herself, Kim Kardashian. Keeping the look pale and interesting, Kim opts for muted shades of mint and blush pink against neutral panels of cream. The oversized fit of her coat is a great way to contour the cut of her pencil skirt and tucked in vest, giving a masculine edge to this overtly feminine style. Simplicity is key here so ensure that makeup is fairly neutral – a rosy blush or lip warming the complexion and complimenting the sweet shades effortlessly. Here's a few pieces that I've found;

TROPICAL

As a retail worker, I see trends come and go. Part of my job is to recognise new trends and work out what works best with the items we have in store. I work in the second biggest New Look in the country and we have a lot of stock.

Tropical Beach is all about combining cool acid wash denim with a high summer feel, introducing vibrant Hawaiian florals and wild abstract prints. Colours are bright and bold, think flashes of vivid coral and turquoise as demonstrated by Jameela Jamil’s flowing tropical maxi, paired with camisoles, embroidered sundresses and playsuits for everyday wearability. Tropical fruit and palm detail keep things fresh across both print and accessories – look to Rihanna for inspiration with her pineapple separates with urban flare. Cut out sandals and high shine sliders are the perfect finishing touch to this carefree surf story.
